SERIOUSLY!

Hey Everyone,

I know it has been a LONG while since I have posted. And for those of you who need photos I know this isn't your favorite post but It is super important that I post this.

Once of my best friends stacie was out Saturday going door to door getting signatures to help fight prop 8 in California. For those that don't know Prop 8 is based on Marriage and taking out the man and a women part. I am going to copy an email that I got talking about the consequences of the prop passing. It is so scary to think the world is coming to this. Bishops in Cali have been warned. The church has also called a specialist in every ward to learn as much as they can about this.

I encourage you all to sign up to receive email from unitedfamilies.org. This website is amazing. It talks about all the different things going on in our world to tear apart the family.

Gary Lawrence, the statewide director of the grassroots effort under ProtectMarriage.com coalition, has compiled his list of Six Consequences if Prop 8 Fails. I have listed them below for your reference.

Six Consequences If Proposition 8 Fails

1.Children in public schools will be taught that both traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are okay.

The California Education Code already requires that health education classes instruct children about marriage. (§51890)

Therefore, if the definition of marriage is changed, children will be taught that marriage is a relation between any two adults. There will be serious clashes between the secular school system and the right of parents to teach their children their own values and beliefs.

2. Churches will be sued if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings that are open to the public. Ask whether your pastor, priest, minister, bishop, or rabbi is ready to perform such marriages in your chapels and sanctuaries.

3. Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children only in homes with both a mother and a father. Catholic Charities in Boston has already closed its doors because of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.

4. Religions that sponsor private schools and which provide housing for married students will be required to provide housing for same-sex couples, even if it runs counter to church doctrine, or lose tax exemptions and benefits.

5. Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages will be sued for hate speech and could be fined by the government. It has already happened in Canada, one of six countries that have legalized gay marriage.

6. It will cost you money. A change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits. Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today's activist judges), think of the money – your money, your church contributions – that will have to be spent on legal fees.

And think of all the unintended consequences that we cannot even foresee at this time. Where will it end?

It's your children, your grandchildren, your money, and your liberties.

Lets work together to protect them.

we are going out door to door too and phoning people to get their "yes" votes. It's pretty scary and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it passes. I'll be doing a post soon too. Thanks for putting the word out there.

Just a heads up: Mike Huckabee recently gave an interview in which he holds Mitt Romney responsible for implementing gay marriage in Massachusetts.

Welcome to the ProtectMarriage.com coalition.

I wish that more rank and file members of the LDS (Mormon) church would realize: the anti-gay coalition they've joined in California is one that includes folks who - given the chance - would vote their church out of existence.

Folks like Mike Huckabee and his Evangelical buddies.

It's disappointing to learn of fellow Americans who would stoop to peddling lies to support their position. Google "Six Consequences if Proposition 8 Fails" ... these are six totally false talking points that the "Yes on 8" campaign is trying to use to fire up their target voters. Anyone who bothers to study the issue will quickly learn that these six "consequences" are total fabrications and sad examples of ugly fearmongering from the "Yes on 8" campaign. Shame.

WOW!! Scary to think about, I might post this on my blog too!!
By the way, isn't it so annoying when random people post on your blog? It's exactly why I decided to go private!

Ami -

You better have a plan in place, because the latest polling shows Prop 8 losing by 17 points. Of course, polls are notoriously inaccurate about this issue, since people seem reluctant to reveal their bigotry to pollsters, but they are probably not 17 points inaccurate.

Add to that the fact that pretty much every major paper in the state has come out against Prop 8, as well as the governor, and the fact that propositions almost never come from behind in the polls to win, and you can be pretty well assured of a defeat for prop 8. So get those lesson plans ready!

Of course, you're going to have to figure out how to protect your kids from the fact that they will see gay folks in the media, meet them in real life, find out they are related to some, etc. You can protect your kids to a certain degree, but you can't isolate them entirely.
